Jeep has taken its vehicles to the next level with its plug-in hybrids! The Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee are two of the best hybrid vehicles ever created, and if you want them to go longer on the battery, you'll need a good charger. How does the PHEV work for your Jeep Hybrid?
Your Jeep plug-in hybrid uses battery power to power up its electric motor and gasoline to power the internal combustion engine. Your Jeep hybrid vehicle can be charged in several ways, such as via wall outlets or charging equipment, by the internal combustion engine itself, or by regenerative braking. Your Jeep 4xe vehicle will generally run on electric power until the battery has been depleted, and then it will automatically switch over to gasoline power.
How long does the battery take to charge?
How long your Jeep 4xe will take to charge depends on your vehicle's size and the charging method you use. For example, if you have a Wrangler 4xe, it will have a smaller battery, and recharging it will take around three hours at 120V and 1.5 hrs at 240V. Something like the Grand Cherokee 4xe will have a larger battery that might take up to 20-plus hours at 120V and 4-8 hours at 240V charging. Jeep vehicles with their two outstanding chargers will charge any vehicle in two hours.
Will my 4xe keep running if it's out of charge?
This is a big question! While some hybrid vehicles will certainly stop running if they run out of charge. The Jeep 4xe vehicles are different as they automatically switch to gasoline power when they run out of electric charge. This will happen without driver input, so you can drive without worry, even if your battery is completely depleted. With the Wrangler 4xe, you will experience it running on gasoline when your SUV runs out of charge. You can even recharge your battery on the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe through regenerative braking!
