Since 1955, the Chrysler 300 has been an icon in the luxury car industry, seemingly making waves each time a new variant was introduced. In 2023, Chrysler announced that the 2023 model year would be the final model year of the model, marking the end of an impressive era. As Chrysler bids farewell to the 300, its swan song includes the reintroduction of the HEMI-powered 300C. Powered by a 392-cubic-inch engine, just like the original 1957 Chrysler 300C, the 2023 model honors its heritage with unrivaled luxury and performance. Here at Gary Miller Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we'd like to take you with us as we look back at the rich history of the Chrysler 300 on this page!

1955 Chrysler 300 Introduction

Introduced in 1955, the Chrysler 300 boasted 300 horsepower courtesy of a HEMI V8 with solid valve lifters and dual four-barrel carburetors. The 1955 Chrysler 300 made waves as the most powerful full-size car in the world, even garnering recognition in the NASCAR circuit. The 1957 model year brought on the introduction of the first Chrysler 300C, which switched to a larger 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8 that provided an impressive 375 horsepower. The 300D, introduced in 1958, hit a heart-pounding 156.387 MPH, breaking the Bonneville land speed record at the time. In 1959, Chrysler introduced the 300E. Over the years, Chrysler has provided what became known as the "Letter Series," which included Chrysler 300 models with a letter behind it. In the first five years of the 1960s, Chrysler introduced the 300F, 300G, 300H, 300J, and 300K, with 1965 marking the last of the Letter Series with the 300L. Aligning itself with the Letter Series was the 300 non-letter series, which continued into the following decades.

1999-2015

In 1999, Chrysler introduced the 300M, which was crowned MotorTrend's 1999 Car of the Year. As model years progressed into the new millennium, the 300 evolved, and the 2005 model year saw the introduction of the Chrysler 300 series, dropping the letters and reintroducing rear-wheel drive. However, the 2005 model year also brought the reintroduction of the 300C, powered by a 5.7L HEMI V8, which delivered 340 horsepower. The performance of the 300C was taken to a new level with the available SRT8, which removed the 5.7L engine and added a 6.1L engine, boosting the power output to 425 horsepower. Between the 2005 and 2010 model years, Chrysler continued to produce various 300 models, including the 300C, blacked-out 300S, 300C SRT8, and the option of all-wheel drive. In 2014, the Chrysler 300 SRT was introduced with a 6.4L HEMI V8 with 470 horsepower. In 2015, the Chrysler 300 unveiled a new generation, enhancing the luxury and boldness with a complete makeover.

2023 Chrysler 300C

The HEMI-powered Chrysler 300C returns for a final victory lap in the 2023 model year. Powered by a 6.4L HEMI V8, the 2023 Chrysler 300C lays down an impressive 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. This gives the sedan an exhilarating 12.4-second quarter-mile time and 4.3-second 0-60 time. This 392 cubic-inch engine has a distinctive sound, and it is emitted by the 300C's active exhaust system, which uses an electronically controlled valve that opens when the gas pedal is pressed and closes when the gas pedal is released. The 2023 300C also features high-performance features like red Brembo brake calipers, round black exhaust tips, adaptive damping suspension, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Finally, the 300C stands out from the rest of the lineup with a distinctive '300C' logo with a red, white, and blue scheme on the grille's left side, honoring the badge of the original model. This logo is also found embossed into the backrests of the front seats.
