Fall Maintenance for your Vehicle

Brought to you by Gary Miller CDJR

Fall has arrived! For many, this is their favorite season, for others, it marks the end of summer and the eventual decline into winter. The most important thing you can do now is prepare, and we're here to help. At Gary Miller CDJR, our job is to make sure that your vehicle is ready for whatever the seasons or the weather will throw at it. We want to give you some helpful fall maintenance tips that might enable your vehicle to make it through the cooler months more seamlessly than they might if certain issues aren't addressed or looked over. Nothing is more important than keeping your vehicle in top condition, and by getting your vehicle checked before it starts to get cold, you are doing your due diligence in that goal. Keep reading down below for some fall maintenance tips.

Fall Maintenance Checklist

Check your tires: The very first thing we suggest everyone do when it starts to get colder is to make sure that their tires are in the condition they should be. The first step is to look at your tread and make sure that when you do the penny trick, you don't see all of Lincoln's head. The next step, after you have ensured you have enough tread, is to make sure that your tire is properly inflated. You can check the specifications for this in your owner's manual, or sometimes it's written on the interior door. At Gary Miller CDJR, we can help you get new tires if you've been having issues.

Address your battery: Have you been having issues with your battery in the past? Does it seem to be dying often? We want to make sure that when the weather gets cooler you do not have to be worried about being stranded anywhere with a dead battery. That's why we recommend changing your battery if you're concerned, but if you want to avoid that, check for loose connections, corrosion, or anything else that can possibly be the cause of your issues. We'd be more than happy to perform this service for you.

Test your heating system: Yes, even if the weather is still warm, this is a great time to make sure that your heating system is functioning properly. No one wants to be driving around in a freezing cold vehicle, and your passengers will not appreciate it either. Now is the prime time to see how the system is working, and bring it in for service if it is not keeping your vehicle warm like it should.

Top off fluid levels: One thing we never want to leave off of a checklist is your fluid levels. Whether it's the windshield washer fluid or something else, you need to prepare for winter and make sure that you have all of the tools at your disposal. We also recommend taking the time to check things like brake fluid reservoir levels, or other things that could potentially have sprung a leak. Those issues should absolutely be fixed as soon as possible.
