Since the Grand Cherokee's introduction in 1993, the name has been synonymous with comfort. The Grand Cherokee L carries on that tradition with a stylish, functional, and comfortable interior. In front of the driver and passenger is an instrument panel with an intuitive design, with the car's essential controls within easy reach of both front occupants. A 10.25-inch fully digital gauge cluster sits behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel, showing you pertinent information about the drive and vehicle dynamics. The ignition push-button is found to the right of the steering column for easy access. From top to bottom, the center stack looks neat and tidy, topped by slim air vents that were introduced when the Grand Cherokee got its facelift in 2022. Beneath the vents, you'll find physical buttons for the control of driver aids, engine start-stop, and hazard lights. Under these buttons, you'll find a standard 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, while a 10.1-inch touchscreen becomes standard for the Limited and all following trims. Continuing downward, you'll find more physical buttons for control of the dual-zone automatic climate control system with a small storage bin beneath it. This storage bin is where the higher Grand Cherokee trim levels feature a wireless charging pad. From there, the layout flows backward, leading you past the rotary gear dial, Selec-Terrain switch, and available Quadra-Lift switch, to a pair of illuminated cupholders and a storage bin. The Grand Cherokee L features ambient interior LED lighting in the footwells, across the dash, and inside the cupholders. Meanwhile, the higher trim levels gain five distinct color settings.
How Much Space Does the Grand Cherokee L Have?
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee adds five inches to the wheelbase, bringing it to 121.7 inches and making way for a total length of 204.9 inches. This additional length provides the Grand Cherokee L with impressive interior space. The Grand Cherokee L comes with two interior layouts. The standard is a 2+3+2 layout, meaning two front bucket seats, a second-row bench with three seats, and a two-seat bench in the third row. Meanwhile, second-row captain's chairs are optional, providing room for six. In the front row, the driver and passenger enjoy up to 41.3 inches of legroom. Meanwhile, the second-row passengers enjoy a best-in-class 39.4 inches of legroom, and the third-row offers 30.3 inches. In total, the Grand Cherokee L offers 152 cubic feet of passenger space. If you're more interested in its cargo capacity, you will not be disappointed. Behind the third row, the Grand Cherokee L provides up to 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space. However, with the third-row seats folded, you can get 46.9 cubic feet. Finally, when you fold the third- and second-row seats, you'll enjoy an impressive 84.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
Power and Capability of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is available with two separate engine options. First is the standard Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine, which lays down 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, delivering a maximum towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds. Meanwhile, the Grand Cherokee L is eligible for the famed 5.7L HEMI V8 engine, which pumps out an impressive 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, providing drivers with an impressive 7,200-pound towing capacity. Mated to both engines is the robust TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission for gear shifts optimized for both power output and fuel efficiency. While the Grand Cherokee L technically comes standard in rear-wheel drive, 4x4 is most common here in Pennsylvania. The standard 4x4 system for the Grand Cherokee L is Quadra-Trac I, which uses a single-speed transfer case to provide a torque split of 48% to the front wheels and 52% to the rear wheels, providing optimal full-time four-wheel-drive traction. Meanwhile, Quadra-Trac II is optional, adding a two-speed transfer case to provide higher torque at low speeds with an available 4-Low mode. Finally, Quadra-Drive II is also available, providing maximum on and off-road capability by combining a two-speed transfer case with an electronic limited-slip rear differential.
