Engine and Drivetrain Options for the 2024 Dodge Hornet
As we mentioned above, the 2024 Dodge Hornet is eligible for two engine options. Powering the GT and GT Plus trim levels is Dodge's new Hurricane 4 engine. This two-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine delivers an exciting 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission delivers this power to all four wheels with an innovative all-wheel drive system with active torque vectoring. The Dodge Hornet R/T and R/T Plus are the brand's first models to employ electric power. The Hornet R/T trims feature a 1.3L turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine underneath the hood. This engine, however, powers only the front wheels. Meanwhile, the rear wheels are powered by an electric motor that is powered by a rechargeable battery pack. This affords the Hornet R/T an astonishing 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Due to the electric power, the rear wheels receive an impressive jolt of 184 horsepower instantly for impressive performance. The Hornet R/T also uses an all-wheel drive platform, while the GT's nine-speed automatic transmission is switched out for a six-speed automatic.
Classic Dodge Style With a Modern Twist
Dodge hasn't built its legendary reputation by being subtle, so it shattered the expectations that other compact utility vehicles have created with the 2024 Hornet. Dodge honors its muscle car heritage with the Hornet's aggressive front end, featuring a forward-leaning stance, a mailslot grille opening introduced by the Charger Hellcat, fierce-looking headlights with LED bulbs, and large dual heat extractors on the hood. At the center of the grille is the traditional Dodge Rhombi logo. Down the sides, you'll find a touch of ruggedness, courtesy of the black cladding over the wheel wells, underneath the doors, and under the bumpers. At the rear, you'll find Dodge's first LED-illuminated Rhombi logo between sleek taillights with a thin LED light bar stretching between the taillights. Once you get behind the wheel, you'll feel as though you have entered a mobile command center, with a 12.3-inch digital display screen behind an ergonomic leather-wrapped steering wheel and a center stack angled toward you, continuing Dodge's iconic driver-centric dashboard layout. The new Uconnect 5 touchscreen is the focal point of the center stack. Other interior features include dual-zone automatic climate control, six speakers, push-button ignition, and more.
