History of Dealership
In February 1969 Gary Miller formed a partnership with a long time friend of his and they purchased an existing used car business called Midland Motors located at 2508 State St., Erie, PA. With neither he nor his partner having any knowledge of the automobile business they struggled throughout the year. In December of 1969 they came to the conclusion that they could not feed two families on their efforts and Gary decided to sell his share to his partner.
In April 1970 Gary set out on his quest again. He rented his own used car lot at 2339 State St., Erie, PA and started a business called Gary Miller Auto Sales. Using the money he had from selling the previous dealership he purchased a small fleet of lower end used vehicles, and developed a successful used car retail business. Over the next six or seven years Gary became more and more interested in purchasing a dealership franchise, and finally in 1978 he did just that.
November 16, 1978, the Chrysler-Plymouth dealership known as Dahl Motors, located at 5746 Peach St, Erie, PA, was purchased and the name was changed to Gary Miller Chrysler-Plymouth. Although Plymouth no longer exists, Gary Miller Chrysler-Jeep is still in full swing at the same location, along with the Miller Management Group.
Today, the Miller organization has six dealerships spanning two states. This was made possible with a lot of hard work, maybe a little bit of luck, but more than anything an unmatched dedication to customer service. This dedication has created many life long friends and customers, and it is our goal to continue this tradition well into the future.
